Storms of Life

A Look at Genesis 8 and Matthew 8: Storms of Life

While storms flooded the entire earth until even the highest mountaintop was covered, Noah and his family were protected inside the ark. God was with them in the storm. I have a feeling that satan really wanted to sink that giant boat, but God would not allow him to. God guided and protected them until they landed safely on the mountains of Ararat. When God finally brought them out, Noah sacrificed and gave thanks to the Lord.

One day on the Sea of Galilee, Jesus and the disciples were caught in a bad storm. Jesus wasn’t worried, He was sleeping. He knew the enemy wasn’t going to sink this boat. The disciples, however, were terrified. They woke Him up fearing they were about to go under. Jesus spoke to the winds and waves, and all became calm. In the peace after the storm, the disciples were amazed that He could calm the storm.

Storms are a part of life. We all face them. As believers, we are never in the storm alone. He is always with us. He is faithful and He will bring us through every storm we face. The secret to finding peace in the storm is making sure to keep your eyes fixed on Him. Keep your eyes fixed on Him and trust Him to see you through. He is still the One who commands the winds and waves. Hold on to Him, He will see you through.

When He brings you through the storms of life, and He always does, awe and worship should be our response. Like Noah and the disciples, let us worship and give thanks to the One who brought us through the storm. May we always take the time to stop and give thanks to Him for being with us and bringing us through the storms of life. He is faithful and we must learn to be faithful in expressing our gratitude.

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with My righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

I will be with you when you pass through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. You will not be scorched when you walk through the fire, and the flame will not burn you. Isaiah 43:2 – Katrina Douglas
