Katrina Douglas is a survivor of childhood abuse and domestic violence who now uses her voice to tell others about the hope and freedom she has found in her Savior Jesus Christ. As an author and blogger, she endeavors to offer seeds of hope and encouragement to others traveling this journey called life. She knows firsthand how a tiny seed of hope can grant the courage to keep going when the journey gets difficult. That is what she wants people to find when they read the words she writes, a seed of hope.

One seed of hope she lives by is Psalm 40:1-3. “I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my steps. He has put a new song in my mouth-praise to our God; Many will see it and fear and will trust in the Lord.” (New King James). This is her prayer for her life and yours. Join Katrina on the journey and watch how a tiny seed of hope can grow great faith.

Message from Katrina

I am a survivor of both childhood abuse and domestic violence and I want you to know that there is always help available if you need it. I began writing my first blog titled “Seeds of Hope” because I wanted women to know there was a way to hope. I know what it feels like to live in fear and I want you to know that you don’t have to live like that any longer.

Trust me; you are braver than you realize, dear girl. You can do this and you’re going to find out that more people care than you ever dreamed possible. You do not have to do this alone. There is a God who loves you just as you are and hope to be found in even the hardest places.

My friend, if you are in an abusive situation, I urge you to reach out for help. It is available. You can take the first step right now. Never give up—there is hope to be found in this journey. Please call today and connect with someone. The National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-SAFE (7233). Someone is there to help grow hope for you.

Out of the Ashes

Out of the ashes, I will arise.
Scorched, bearing many scars,
Yet, with His help, I survived.

Bruised and battered, I stand,
Broken, but held by my Savior.
The flames were unbearably hot.
Yet, He did not let me perish.

I gaze at the ashes that remain,
Memories of the way things were,
Lessons learned the hard way.

The flames helped me to see,
And the flames set me free.
I stand in the ashes, grateful,
He carried me through it all.

His strength was always enough.
With His help and Him beside me,

Out of the ashes, I will arise.
